The dissipation of a microwave field in an inhomogeneous plane layer
covered by external semitransparent screens is investigated. It is
shown that use of the screens makes it possible to control the
dissipation process: to displace the nodes and antinodes of the loss
power density and to increase and decrease its values at the antinode
points. The reported results can be of help in hyperthermia of
biological objects in cancer treatment.
